I do NOT want to go looking for the various blog posts I have made outlining why and when the "big-firm-co" consulting companies would start to push their way onto the bandwagon (it;'s started) and why I would never pay a big consulting firm for advice about something like social computing.

Their business models depend upon formulaic approaches being standardized (to the extent possible) and while their employees / consultants can read all the blog posts and articles they want to, or develop their personal blog .. I'd go to seasoned marketing, PR and OD people who understand both business and the deep intimate and customised world of letting voice(s) flow ... as you point out in your conclusion above.
