Classtell

Via StartUpNorth is news of a bootstrapped website creation/hosting service for teachers. Classtell reminds me of edublogs but it has some differences. Firstly, it’s Canadian and secondly it is not free. The cost is only $20 per year and that should ensure some cashflow so that the system doesn’t collapse as it grows. It also means no advertising.

You can create an unlimited number of pages on your Classtell website. These pages can used for assignments, calendars, blogs, and more.

You also have 500MB of storage space on your Classtell account to upload and share files, handouts and photos with your class.

Oh, and the most interesting part of this new company? The founder is only 15 years old!

  1. Watch out. I’ve been trying to use this site for a class, but most of the features don’t work….Don’t waste your time like I did until they work out the bugs! Beware!

  2. Once I established an account, many links would no longer work (at all) or they would take me to the wrong place on the site. Would love to use this at my school, but it needs stability before I can roll it out, especially to tech-fearful teachers (or tech savvy students who don’t tolerate downtime). I will play around with it some more this weekend, because I like the concept. Thanks for your response.

  3. I trialed the program for my class and i think its just fine. One problem. Teachers are cheap. Think about reducing your prices.
